Australia Day Ambassador Program - MS JO PALMER

Jo Palmer is the anchor for “Southern Cross Nightly News" on 7 Tasmania. Originally employed by Southern Cross Television in Hobart as a journalist, Jo has been presenting the evening news for 22 years.
JShe is also a columnist for the Sunday Examiner Newspaper. A former Miss Tasmania, in 1993 was awarded Miss Australia, the first Tasmanian woman to win the prestigious title since 1927.In 1993 Jo was awarded "Tasmanian of the Year" for her charity work, in particular her work with people with disabilities.
JCurrently residing in Launceston, Jo is married to Professional Latin American dancer Andrew Palmer and has four children; Henry 21, Lily 19, Charlie 9 and Alfie 8.She is a prominent speaker at numerous Tasmanian charity and community events and is the Ambassador for a number of organisations including Tasmanian Clown Doctors, Care Australia “Walk in her Shoes”, a National Reading Ambassador and City Missions “Inside Out 4 Kids” working with children affected by trauma.
Jo is also the Ambassador and face of “Give Me Five for Kids”, the major fundraising arm of 7 Tasmania which has contributed over one million dollar to the children’s wards of Tasmanian public hospitals over the past six years.
